Manchester United have been told who should become their next captain by former Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit.
Currently Harry Maguire is the club's captain, however he has found playing time hard to come by recently thanks to the form of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez. With Maguire dropped to the bench, Bruno Fernandes has been wearing the armband in his absence.
However, according to Petit, the Portuguese star does not have the necessary qualities to be United's leader on a matchday. In his opinion, Christian Eriksen should be handed the honour.

Explaining his decision to Lord Ping, Petit said: "The one player that should receive the Manchester United captaincy is Christian Eriksen. He has the personality and the character and he always gives the best version of himself on the pitch.
"Raphael Varane has played at a very good level, but he's very shy and doesn't have the temper or the personality to be the Manchester United captain." There have been calls to replace Maguire permanently as captain for some time.
These opinions were aired again when Erik ten Hag arrived, however the Dutchman backed him and also revealed that he is working with a leadership group at Old Trafford. "When the attitude is no good from the team, often the leaders are not there because they are the ones who give the example and go in front," Ten Hag explained in August.
"That is a point we have to work on. I work always with a group of leaders, not one in particular.
"I spoke with the leaders about this issue. It doesn't have to be senior players but we have a core group who have to be the example and take the responsibility."
