Bruno Fernandes has been a lot of things to Manchester United since he signed for the club in the January of 2020. It was his mid-season arrival that propelled Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side to a strong finish that season and he has been a mainstay in the side ever since.
The playmaker is perhaps the most important player in the starting XI, one who can create something out of nothing, and was appointed as captain by Erik ten Hag this past summer. It shows just how much of an impact a signing in the new year transfer window can have if done correctly.

United will have to hope, or more accurately work very hard, to find at least one signing that could have a similar impact this time around. Ideally, they could do with a whole lot more.
Injuries have ravaged United this season, which can't be forgotten, but poor team building resulting in an imbalanced squad continues to cost the club. With January getting closer every day, United could do with adding a versatile defender capable of playing in the middle or out wide, a midfielder and a striker.
Given the club is working on a shoestring budget due to FFP and overspending once again in the summer, that's a very big ask. In all likelihood, most of the positions will go wanting but there is scope to operate in the loan and Bosman markets while the club could look to go big once again next summer.
