Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson is closing in on a move to Newcastle United. Sources say Henderson, 25, was in Newcastle for talks on Wednesday.
It is understood discussions have been held over a season-long loan but a permanent transfer has not been ruled out. The Manchester Evening News revealed this week Newcastle were still interested in Henderson amid plans to enhance their squad for next season.
Newcastle were in discussions to sign Henderson on loan on deadline day in January but the move collapsed when incumbent first choice Martin Dubravka rejected a move to United in a proposed swap deal. Ajax were interested in signing Henderson on loan in the January transfer window but new United manager Erik ten Hag appears to have decided to retain David de Gea as United’s No.1 goalkeeper.

Henderson has only played for United three times this season and not appeared in the Premier League whatsoever.
The academy graduate was pencilled in to start the season for United until he contracted Covid-19 in his first week of pre-season training in July. Henderson was so debilitated by the illness he missed the start of the season and was unavailable for selection until September.
Tom Heaton partly agreed to rejoin United on the assumption one of the two main goalkeepers would leave, with the club indicating De Gea was the likelier to go.
Henderson's illness allowed De Gea to start the season free of competition, making key saves at Southampton and Wolves in United's second and third games of the season. De Gea could win the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for a record fifth time.
