Ryan Giggs is potentially facing a possible retrial after a jury failed to reach verdicts in his domestic violence trial.The former Manchester United footballer had been on trial for four weeks but following more than 20 hours of deliberations, the jury of seven women and four men, having lost one juror to illness, failed to reach any verdicts. Lawyers will now have to consider the public interest of a retrial but any further trial would only take place many months from now. An inquest has opened into the death of a man who was killed in a hit-and-run after suffering from a medical episode. Nathan Louis James Hayes, 32, was waiting for a bus on Worsley Road North in Walkden when he had a medical episode ‘sat up in the road’.
A passerby helped get Mr Hayes to safety and asked him for a phone number so they could call for help. As they went inside and made the call, Mr Hayes was struck by the car whilst lying in the road, Bolton Coroner’s Court heard.
The vehicle fled the scene. A man has since been arrested, Det Cons Nicola Veitch-Lancaster said.

Mr Hayes, from Bolton, was pronounced dead after being taken to Salford Royal Hospital, and his cause of death was recorded as multiple injuries.
Opening an inquest into his death, Area Coroner for Manchester West, Prof Dr Alan Walsh, clarified the provisional findings of an investigation by Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Unit. It was said the investigation was ongoing and the inquest was adjourned for a review later this year.
Det Cons Veitch-Lancaster, a police coroner’s officer, said that on July 20 Mr Hayes was waiting for a bus at a bus stop near to the junction of Worsley Road North and Alexandra Road.
“Mr Hayes had a medical episode sat up in the road,” she said. “A passerby got him to safety and got him to pass them a contact number of somebody they could call.
“Whilst inside their house the passerby telephoning the number, Nathan Hayes was struck by a vehicle as he lay in the road. The vehicle did not stop.”
