This is the dramatic moment a fire ripped through a high-rise flat in Glasgow.
A man was rushed to hospital after the blaze broke out on Shawhill Road in Shawlands at around 9pm on Saturday, September 25. Emergency services raced to the scene as fire crews battled to quickly extinguish the flames while the flats were evacuated.
Footage taken from the scene, and shared with Glasgow Live, shows flames firing out of the window of the property affected. Plumes of black smoke could be seen billowing up into the sky as firefighters arrived at the scene.
Ambulance crews also attended and a man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. His condition is currently unknown.
Crews left the scene after the fire was extinguished shortly after.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.05pm on Saturday, September 25, police and emergency services were called to a fire at a block of flats on Shawhill Road in Glasgow.
“Residents from a number of the surrounding properties were evacuated as a precaution and the fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
“One man has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.”
