Manchester City have been told that their summer transfer priority is to replace Joao Cancelo, although Erling Haaland’s arrival means the Blues are still a more rounded team.
Haaland has netted an astonishing 42 goals so far this season and City are blessed with many attacking options. However, their sticking point this term has been at left-back following the exit of Oleksandr Zinchenko in the summer before Cancelo’s loan to Bayern Munich in January.
The Portugal defender will stay at the German giants until the end of the season and will face off against his parent club in the Champions League quarter-finals next month with loan rules allowing his participation in the tie.

Former City star Paulo Wanchope has admitted his "surprise" at Cancelo’s temporary exit and says the situation at left-back needs to be sorted with Nathan Ake often filling in.
“[City] are such a great team it is difficult to see where they can strengthen but for me it was a surprise when Cancelo went to Bayern,” the ex-Costa Rica international told888sport.
“He was a very important player for City and they will need to find someone similar. The quality that Cancelo put into that team was really high so he needs to be replaced.”
Meanwhile, Wanchope hailed Haaland’s impact but believes the 22-year-old is still yet to reach his peak form, albeit dismissed the idea that City are not a better team with him in the side, so much so that he reckons the Norwegian can lead them to Champions League glory.
