Manchester City have been dealt a major injury blow ahead of the Manchester derby after watching John Stones pull up with a hamstring problem while playing for England on Monday night.
Stones, 28, was recalled to the starting XI against Germany by Gareth Southgate after missing the Italy match due to suspension. However, his return lasted 37 minutes before the centre-back was withdrawn.
City teammate Kyle Walker came on to replace John Stones having only just returned from injury himself. In doing so, Walker earned his 70th international cap at Wembley.

However, it was the former Everton man who prompted concern for Pep Guardiola after pulling up with an injury and, ultimately, there was no option but to substitute him before half-time beneath the famous arch. City will play neighbours Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon (2pm).
But with an update due, Guardiola will be sweating over a player who has shone in recent games.
Stones has played seven times this season with some appearances coming at right-back when Walker was injured, while the Barnsley graduate would have, also, been a decent bet to start on derby day.
Explaining team selection during his pre-match interview, Southgate said: "John [Stones] is fresh but Kyle [Walker] has been out for a while so we felt it made sense to freshen that up."
