Manchester City have been fined £260,000 for failing to control their supporters on the dramatic final day of the 2021/22 Premier League season.
City pulled off a remarkable comeback at home to Aston Villa on the final day of last season, scoring three goals in five second-half minutes to overturn a two-goal deficit and pip Liverpool to the title.
The incredible drama led to pandemonium in the stands, and things spilled over at full-time when thousands of supporters ran onto the pitch to celebrate the club's fourth title victory in five years, ignoring requests from the club to stay off the playing surface.

As a result, City were found guilty of breaching FA Rule E20, and an independent regulatory commission imposed the sanction. A statement published on Friday by The Football Association read: "Manchester City has been fined £260,000 and warned about its future conduct for breaching FA Rule E20 after a Premier League game against Aston Villa FC on Sunday 22 May 2022.
"The club admitted that it failed to ensure its spectators - and all those purporting to be its supporters or followers - conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and refrained from using threatening and violent behaviour while encroaching onto the pitch after the final whistle.
"An independent Regulatory Commission imposed these sanctions during a subsequent hearing and its written reasons for them will be published in due course."
