Ruben Dias remains a doubt for Manchester City's crunch Premier League and Champions League games next month after Pep Guardiola was told trying to bring the defender back too early could end his season.
Dias, 24, suffered a hamstring injury in the FA Cup win over Peterborough at the start of March and an initial diagnosis of four to six weeks was given. Despite some confusion this week, the Portugal international has not yet returned to training at City so is unavailable for the trip to Southampton this weekend.
Guardiola would love to see him back in time to face Burnley on April 2 before their European quarter-final with Atletico and top-of-the-table clash with Liverpool that will come swiftly after the international break. However, the City manager has been warned by his medical team that Dias may need to be kept out for longer.

"They told me five or six weeks," he said. "I think he will be short [of that] after the international break. They told me it is getting better, his symptoms are very good but the problem is that when he got injured, the doctors told me to be careful - it looks like you are good at Burnley but falling down again means the season is over.
"The position of the injury in the hamstring means ‘be careful’. We maybe have to wait a few more weeks but it is getting better."
John Stones and Aymeric Laporte have played in the games since Peterborough and will likely line up again at Southampton as the Blues look to book their second trip to Wembley this season. Nathan Ake is also available after injury to offer competition.
