A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car on the A725, Kingsway in East Kilbride, police have confirmed on Saturday.
The incident happened around 8.30pm Friday, September 23, on the northbound carriageway between the White Moss and Whirlies roundabouts.
The 50-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a Volkswagen Golf. Emergency services attended but he was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been made aware.
The 40-year-old male driver was uninjured. He has been arrested in connection with a road traffic offence and enquiries are ongoing.
The road was closed to allow an investigation at the scene and has since reopened.
Sergeant Andy Currie, of Police Scotland ’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances which led to this incident.
“We would be keen to speak to anyone with information or anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area on Friday evening.
“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 3647 of September 23.”
