Married At First Sight UK fans have called out Sophie’s dad over his remark about her new husband. New bride Sophie, 26, burst on the scene in Thursday night’s episode in the hope of finding her dream husband. The Manchester native who has a successful career in tech said: “Money doesn’t buy you happiness but it certainly helps” – and it appears her dad David feels that same.
Speaking to the cameras ahead of his daughter’s nuptials to her new husband Jonathan, he said: “The qualities that I'm looking for in this guy – whoever he may be – is honesty and that he’s fabulously wealthy.” But viewers of the E4 series were appalled by his comment and took to social media to air their feelings over his seemingly snobbish behaviour. One Twitter user said: “Don't know about anyone else but I'd rather have someone with a good heart, who cared about me and the people around them, can make me laugh and be there for the good and bad times.” “#MAFSUK Ergh, ‘qualities..fabulously wealthy’ yeh, that’s what matters right? This isn’t going to work…poor guy,” quipped another.
One MAFS fan felt the need to throw up and wrote: “I think I just puked in my mouth a bit #MAFSUK”. While a fourth had very little to say except “what a d**k***d #MAFSUK.” As the father of the bride pulled up to the venue he told Sophie: “This is what it's all about. This shows the character of the man”.
Sophie then nervously responded with a simple “yes”.The E4 reality show surprised this week's viewers with two new couples as part of an explosive twist teased on Wednesday. Gemma, 30, a hair salon owner from Devon, got ready to meet her husband for the first time as she said: "There's so much relying on this moment, it's life-changing.
