Just when we thought Love Island couldn’t get any more exciting, the ITV2 dating competition shocked viewers at the end of Tuesday night’s episode as they announced a brand new bombshell would be entering the villa, shortly after a brutal double-dumping. In the dramatic preview, 26 year old Antigoni Buxton is seen kicking back on a sun lounger in the villa’s garden, before being spotted by her fellow Islanders from the terrace.
With beachy blonde tight curls, Antigoni bears a striking resemblance to pop singer Shakira – plus, she’s a musician too. So when we spotted some older pictures of the reality star on Instagram with dark brunette hair, we almost didn’t recognise her.
Despite the fact that she suits the blonde so much, the star’s natural hair colour is much darker, but according to her hair stylist she’s been having it gradually lightened once a year to achieve her current shade. A post shared by Antigoni’s hairdresser Elysia Valentina hints that it hasn’t been the easiest task taking her from brunette to blonde, claiming she has the “thickest hair ever” while revealing the exact process she uses.
In the before-and-after snap, Elysia says: “Happy Sunday! Half a head of tiny weave highlights for my babe with the thickest hair ever.” She continues: “Antigoni’s hair is naturally super curly and of course, curly hair is always more dry than straight, so we only do her highlights once a year with Olaplex of course to maintain the condition #aintnobodygottimeforsplits.” On Antigoni’s TikTok account, the star is last seen having her hair lightened in October 2021. Opting for blonde highlights at the top of her head with darker sections towards the bottom, her finished colour looks natural, healthy and sunkissed.
