A rugby Super League player from Yorkshire is the next contestant rumoured to be arriving in the Spanish villa for the newest series of Love Island. Jacques O’Neill, who currently plays for the Castleford Tigers in West Yorkshire has reportedly been lined up to appear on the upcoming series of ITV2’s smash hit dating show. The 23 year old began playing for the club when he was still just a teenager, with the player’s impeccable skill on the pitch making him one of rugby’s best young prospects in recent years.
Originally from Cumbria, Jacques started out his professional career playing for the England Knights before transferring to Castleford in 2019. Get exclusive celebrity stories and fabulous photoshoots straight to your inbox with OK!'s daily newsletter .
So far, he has made 29 appearances for the team in total, and according to Rugby League Live, is hoping to find love when he makes his Love Island debut next month. Despite being a much sought after player, the sportsman has been hampered by injuries in recent months, with one particularly nasty one even requiring him to undergo major surgery to repair his hamstring.
Unfortunately the injury disrupted his career at the Tigers, leading to only six appearances last season - with the star even forced to miss out on the Challenge Cup Final. Outside of sport, Jacques is said to be a loyal family man, and regularly shares pictures of his mum Janet, who to date has never missed any of his games.
The rugby star also recently celebrated the arrival of his niece, and melted the hearts of his social media followers when he uploaded a picture of him cuddling the adorable newborn. Joining Jacques in the villa will also be Brad McDermott, the younger brother of Zara McDermott,
