Paige Thorne and Adam Collard have confirmed they are now officially boyfriend and girlfriend after coming fourth in this year's series of Love Island. In an interview with Jodie McCallum for On Demand Entertainment, the Geordie hunk explained he wanted to ask Paige off camera so that she knew “everything was real".
“We got left for a night and it was the only time where we actually got to sit on the sofa, it was just us for the first time, and I was like ‘right I need to ask you now, because it’s not for anyone else’s benefit apart from mine and yours," he said. "Like I do really want you to be my girlfriend.’ I didn’t even ask her- I actually just told her!” Paige, 24, laughs, admitting that she didn’t really have any choice, “No he just told me!” “I just said ‘wait, so this is a thing now, please!” joked 26 year old Adam.
Adam is the only Islander to ever return to the villa, having previously taken part in the ITV hit show in series four back in 2018. Reflecting on his experience this time around he admitted: “I feel like I’ve won.” However, it hasn’t been completely smooth sailing.
In the meet the parents episode we saw Paige’s mum, Samantha, express her doubts that Adam was genuine, yet that has all been resolved now that he has been down to Swansea to meet the whole family. “They made me feel really welcome,” says Adam.
“Her mum came straight up to us and was like ‘you know what I probably believed and read a few too many press articles and stuff like that’ but we were dancing on the tables with her Nana within half an hour!” “Mum is now buying it, she’s got shares in this relationship now,” teased Paige. Despite living at opposite ends of the country, the couple aren’t planning on moving in together quite yet.
