Former Love Island star Luca Bish has poked fun at his mum, Maria, after she made her 'TV debut'. Maria, who is an antiques dealer, took to Instagram to post her excitement that she would be "making my tv debut" on an episode of Salvage Hunters, which aired on the Quest channel on 22 February.
She cheekily wrote: "Luca Isn’t the only TV star in the family," on the post, referring to her son's lengthy stint on Love Island in the summer of 2022, where he coupled up with footballer Michael Owen's daughter, Gemma Owen. Luca was quick to take to his own Instagram account to point out that his mum had, in fact, already made her TV debut when she flew out to Spain and entered the Love Island villa during the Meet the Parents part of the show, which comes in the latter stage.
On his Instagram stories, Luca shared his mum's post where she posed with the Salvage Hunters hosts announcing her news, as he posted a snap of her visiting him on Love Island last year next to it. Poking fun at his mum, with whom he is known to share a close bond, Luca wrote: "Cheek of my mum saying she's making her TV debut tonight as if she didn't fly over to Spain dressed to the nines for her first ever cameo," as he added a laughing emoji.
Luca made it to the final of Love Island last year with partner Gemma, as they came second place to Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti. Following their exit from the villa, Luca asked Gemma to be his girlfriend as he surprised her with a lavish poolside set up that included hundreds of candles, red roses and balloons that spelled out "be my girlfriend" in the pool.
