Love Island bosses are said to be “working to the wire” as they race to finish building the luxury villa contestants will be staying in ahead of the show’s launch in three days time. Whole sections of the Mallorcan venue still remain in disarray ahead of the start of the new series, which returns to our screens on Monday June 6th.The villa’s walls, floors and furniture still remain unfinished, with work on the show’s sexy retreat The Hideaway, having only just begun. Builders have been racing to try and get the work completed in time for the first contestants arriving on Saturday, reports the Sun, but executive producer Mike Spencer remains confident it will all come together.
He said: “It just takes time, getting it right.” Get exclusive celebrity stories and fabulous photoshoots straight to your inbox with OK!'s daily newsletter . ITV acquired the villa back in January and have had various teams on site since March, including locally sourced builders to renovate the property and make it fit for filming. While touring the villa on Monday, Mike said: “Things like this aren't finished yet.
We’re working to the wire. “Cameras are only just going in now, we've been out here for eight or nine weeks. “But it will be amazing.” Finding the perfect venue for the show had been a small feat in itself, with Mike revealing it had taken several months before they found the perfect location nestled on a hillside on the eastern side of the island.
