David Lee Edwards was a convicted felon from Ashland, Kentucky whose life should have been changed forever when he won a quarter-share of the Powerball $280m jackpot in August 2001.

His rough lifestyle had taken its toll on Mr Edwards and he died in 2013 aged just 58. By the end of his life, all of his winnings were gone and owed out huge debts worth thousands to others.
It is not difficult to understand how his fortune ran out after his string of extravagant purchases including his first $1.6m mansion which was a 6,000 square ft monster in a gated community in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He then went on to buy a second house nearby for $600,000 before blowing $1m on luxury cars including a $90,000 Dodge Viper and a $200,000 Lamborghini Diablo.
However, his most extortionate luxury of them all was a $1.9m private
