Loose Women star Carol McGiffin was left disturbed after she saw what her face would look like full of fillers on Thursday. The 52 year old was discussing with the panel whether a prescription should be required for lip fillers, when she was presented with an image of her face with an Instagram filter applied, giving herself a plump pout and cheeks.
Carol was clearly unsettled by the augmented selfie, despite having dabbled in cosmetic surgery herself following a facelift, which she also openly discussed. The daytime host said: "I've had a facelift as everybody knows [but] I haven't had all of that work done that was in [that picture].That is a very, very disturbing look for me. "It's an app or a filter that my friend used when he came over to stay to see what I would look like if I went too far." Carol shared that she thought it "worrying" that the younger generation wish to look like the image displayed, however believed a prescription might not solve these issues of distorted face and body image.
She said: "There should be definitely more regulation. I think there should be an age limit [and] consultations for people to make sure they haven't got any dysmorphia." Carol tied mental health effects with cosmetic procedures, along with financial wealth, as she questioned how those unable to afford augmentations deal with their personal insecurities about their appearance.Read more on ok.co.uk
