As the country faces yet more parliamentary turmoil, the Loose Women panel discussed whether it’s time to bring back Boris Johnson. The question split the panel, with Linda Robson speaking favourably of the former Prime Minister while Coleen Nolan disagreed with the idea of bringing him back. Noting that she “always gets slaughtered online” when she backs Boris, Linda continued to say: “I do think he did the best job he could do during Covid.
What Prime Minister has ever had to deal with Covid or anything?” Coleen then chimed in and said: “And lie through it while he’s having nice parties?” referencing photographs of the former PM surfacing this year which appeared to show him ignoring lockdown restrictions in November 2020. In a bid to try to defend Boris, Linda responded: “He wasn’t actually the one having parties. His wife brought a cake in…” Before she could finish, Coleen rolled her eyes and told her fellow panellist to “be quiet” as she shook her head.
Appearing to back Coleen, Janet Street-Porter then weighed in saying that the country “doesn’t need a big personality” as PM. She added: “What we need is somebody who’s not going to do a U-turn, and Boris was master of the U-turn.” Loose Women viewers then took to Twitter, with many appearing to be on Coleen and Janet’s side. “Someone should tell Linda Robson that just because Boris Johnson said hello to her in Islington a few times, doesn’t mean he’s a great person and it certainly doesn’t mean he can run a country… #LooseWomen,” tweeted one viewer.
Meanwhile, another told her to “get a grip”. “Janet is right - we don’t need another ‘big personality’ we need a grown up!” wrote someone else. “Linda, just because Boris says hello to you does not make him a good PM!”
