After years of false starts and multiple networks, Joe Hill’s “Locke & Key” finally was adapted for TV and brought to Netflix last year. And apparently, the show was a big enough hit to warrant a Season 2, coming just in time for Halloween.

While HBO doesn’t have the monopoly it once did on prestige TV series, with recent competition from Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Apple, and other streaming services, that doesn’t mean the premium network doesn’t consistently release high-quality series, such as the comedy “Insecure.” And now’s probably a great time to catch up, if you haven’t already, as the final season of “Insecure” is arriving next month.
Netflix has renewed Sex/Life for a second season. The streamer also has revealed that the the first season of the steamy drama was watched by 67 million households in the first four weeks since its May 25 release. (Netflix’s metric counts households that have watched two or more minutes of a program.)
Netflix releases a wide variety of series, ranging from drama to comedy. Their dips into fantasy and science fiction have had some success, but little near the likes of a “Game of Thrones.” They do have a show in its second season that somewhat approaches that level.
Netflix has handed an early renewal to the widely popular series The Witcher, greenlighting Season 3 months before Season 2 drops in December.
Netflix has long been known as the best streaming service to find a quality true-crime documentary.
