The younger brother of Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter was 34.

The Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner’s office has revealed the cause of death for Aaron Carter. According to the autopsy report obtained by Deadline (read here), the singer drowned in his bathtub after inhalation of difluoroethane, a flammable gas that is often used as the propellant in cans of compressed air, and ingesting alprazolam, a generic form of Xanax. The manner of death was officially ruled accidental.

Aaron Carter died from "drowning," according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. The "effects of difluoroethane and alprazolam" were listed as contributing factors in his death.  The manner of death was ruled an "accident," according to the coroner.  Difluoroethane is aerosol propellant found in spray cans and alprazolam is commonly referred to as Xanax.
