A group of locals have been left baffled after a block of flats were built in the middle of a roundabout. A mum who lives in the building described it as a "bit strange" but insisted that residents "just get used to it".
Wales Online reports that the unique property sits in Penywaun and has left many eyebrows raised since it's inception. Waunllwyd Flats sits square in the middle of a roundabout, with no formal road crossing, and cars can't be parked on the kerb next to the flats.
The block of flats makes a slightly unusual sight, with paths leading down from four sections of the roundabout. There are nine flats in the block in total, two of which have entrances at street level.
The remaining seven flats can be accessed behind the usual locked door with a buzzer. One resident, named Chelsea, revealed what is it like living in the property. She said: "It's a bit strange. I've lived here for two years, and you just get used to it."
Chelsea has a young daughter, and said it was "hard work" living on the roundabout, worrying about the traffic coming towards it at speed. She added: "The cars come down the hill at a pace, and the school buses too, because there's a comprehensive nearby, so there's about 10 school buses."
The mother confessed that she doesn't allow her daughter play outside near the road. She also revealed that she "can't wait" to move elsewhere when she has her second child.
