Ian Evatt felt Owen Beck did 'okay' on his debut for Bolton Wanderers as he outlined why he took the young defender off midway through the clash against Tranmere Rovers.
Beck has joined the Whites on loan for the campaign from Liverpool. It follows a previous loan spell with Portuguese side Familicao being ended early due to a lack of game time.

He was taken off just after the hour mark for Lloyd Isgrove to make his return from injury. Evatt explained the dual purpose behind the change and that Beck's upcoming involvement with Wales under-21s was behind the move, as he reflected upon seeing a reaction from his side after a poor first half at Prenton Park.
He said: “I thought he did okay. I thought he grew into it. I took him off for a couple of reasons, number one because he’s away with Wales under-21s now and we’ve been trying to manage his minutes and if he played 90 minutes tonight, and then went away with Wales and played 90, it’s probably too much for him where we are right now.
“A 60 and probably a 90 with Wales will do him good. It was also to get Lloyd on the pitch and give him some minutes back as well.
“I just think first half they were all below par and that can happen, but below par based on energy and work ethic. When you make 10 changes sometimes it can have a detrimental effect, only Jonno (George Johnston)
