Lisa Lang McMullen Joins Netflix As Director of Drama Series, Development

Joe Otterson TV ReporterThe “Avatar: The Last Airbender” live-action series at Netflix has found its four series leads.Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, and Dallas Liu have all joined the series. Cormier will star as Aang, with Kiawentiio set to play Katara.

“All I wanted to do was make a movie,” utters would-be film director Lisa Nova (Rosa Salazar) after things have escalated greatly late into Netflix’s new horror series “Brand New Cherry Flavor.” Created by Nick Antosca (“Channel Zero,” “The Act”) and Lenore Zion, and adapted from the novel of the same name by Todd Grimson, the show follows Lisa down a nightmarish spiral after she comes to Los Angeles with dreams of turning her experimental short film “Lucy’s Eye” into a feature.

It tells the story of Andrew Yancy (Vaughn), a one-time detective demoted to restaurant inspector in Southern Florida.

Hacks standout Poppy Liu has been tapped as a series regular opposite Rachel Weisz in Amazon’s Dead Ringers series, a reimagining with a gender swap of David Cronenberg’s cult classic 1980s film.
