Kevin Hart says Will Smith and Chris Rock 'need time to recover'

Kevin Hart believes Will Smith and Chris Rock should be given some time to "recover" from their Oscars controversy. The 43-year-old actor thinks the movie stars ought to be given some time and space by the public, after Will hit Chris during the Oscars earlier this year after the comedian made a joke about Will's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Kevin said: "People make mistakes, and from mistakes they should be allowed time to f****** recover … And that this is no longer the world’s problem, it’s Will and Chris’s problem.

While it’s been a hot-button issue this week with voices on both sides denouncing the action as questionable or even illegal – a Texas sheriff has opened a case against DeSantis to determine if he misled the migrants into boarding the planes and therefore broke the law – but conservative co-host of “The View” Alyssa Farah Griffin indicated that she thinks it’s time to move on and focus on a solution.

Marsha Hunt, Golden Age Hollywood star and blacklist victim, dies at 104

Marsha Hunt, one of the last surviving actors from Hollywood’s so-called Golden Age of the 1930s and 1940s who worked with performers ranging from Laurence Olivier to Andy Griffith in a career disrupted for a time by the McCarthy-era blacklist, has died. She was 104.

Marsha Hunt, 1917-2022: An Appreciation of One of Hollywood’s Genuine Heroines

Alan K. Rode The death of actress-activist Marsha Hunt this week is a historical watershed and a personal loss. Marsha was one of the last living actors who began her movie career during the Great Depression in 1935. She became part of a now vanished Hollywood, initially at Paramount then at MGM, that bound contracted talent to studios with artists having little to no say over their choice of roles and careers. Nevertheless, she thrived in the studio system by becoming somewhat less than a genuine movie star and more of a consummate professional actress.   Marsha’s career was derailed by the Blacklist, a perfidious period of American history that has been endlessly chronicled and misunderstood. Never a Communist or radical, she was a forthright liberal who refused to accept her voice being marginalized by the endemic sexism and politics of the period. Marsha was the final survivor of the Committee of the First Amendment, an action group of film actors, directors and writers founded by screenwriter Philip Dunne, actress Myrna Loy, and directors John Huston and William Wyler. Members of the group flew to Washington D.C. on October 27, 1947 to protest the HUAC hearings investigating so-called subversive Communist influence in the motion picture industry. From a public relations perspective, the group’s involvement backfired and many people in the group subsequently had to seek political cover. After the pamphlet “Red Channels” was published in June 1950, naming Marsha and 150 other artists, journalists and writers by falsely portraying them as subversives who were manipulating the entertainment system, she had a great deal of trouble finding work in Hollywood.

Peter Bart: How To Survive In Hollywood? Vintage Stars Reveal Rules Of Combat In Hefty New AFI Book

The rules of survival in Hollywood have always fascinated me. “Consistency is the key – always present yourself to studios as a total bitch,” Bette Davis once confided. “Never delude yourself into thinking that a star can become a loyal personal friend,” advised Billy Wilder. “Since studios always lie, a producer’s mandate is to come up with bigger lies,” said David O. Selznick.

Jennifer Lawrence says having sex with Harvey Weinstein is the oddest thing she’s read about herself

Jennifer Lawrence says that the allegations she slept with Harvey Weinstein was the weirdest thing she’s ever read about herself. The ‘Don’t Look Up’ star thinks it’s “bizarre” people ever thought she had sex with the 67-year-old disgraced movie mogul - who is currently serving a 23-year sentence in a New York prison after being found guilty of rape and sexual assault and facing other legal battles in Los Angeles and London over similar allegations - when reports of his sexually predatory behaviour in Hollywood surfaced and sparked the MeToo movement. After being asked during US Vogue’s ‘73 Question’ video featurette “What was the most bizarre thing you’ve ever read about yourself?”, the 32-year-old actress said: “That I f***** Harvey Weinstein”.
