“The day it leaked he might be involved, he was on my set. We were still filming,” Lin said, referencing their Netflix movie Tick, Tick…Boom!.
“And, between shots, I kind of quietly went over to him and was like, ‘Andrew, are you…in the new Spider-Man?’” Lin recalled, which took Andrew by surprise.
“His exact reaction was, ‘What?! Shut up! Shut up! Hahaha! Shut up!’” Lin imitated in a high-pitched voice. “And I walked away thinking, ‘Oh, he’s in the new Spider-Man.’”
According to Lin, Andrew got much better at denying his surprise appearance in No Way Home over time.
“Then, when I saw him on your show, he was a total pro at denying it,” Lin joked, referencing Andrew‘s appearance on The Tonight Show in September. “But…he had to get there.”
In another recent interview, Andrew revealed the only three people he told about his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Lin-Manuel Miranda is opening up about his hit song, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” from Encanto.
Clayton Davis Lin-Manuel Miranda is ecstatic about the success of the animated feature “Encanto,” and for his second Oscar nomination for original song — this time, for the emotional number “Dos Oruguitas.” However, the performance of the movie’s soundtrack on the music charts has been getting all the headlines, specifically the hit song, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.” Miranda doesn’t regret submitting “Dos Oruguitas” rather than “Bruno” for consideration for this year’s Academy Awards. The decision had to be done by Nov.
“Encanto.”Miranda’s second feature for Walt Disney Animation Studios after “Moana,” “Encanto” tells the story of a family in Colombia at the turn of the 20th century, each of whom is gifted with a magical ability … all except awkward Mirabel (Stephanie Beatriz). While it was released into theaters at Thanksgiving, it really made a splash at Christmas, when it debuted on Disney+. Since then, it has been nominated for two Oscars (including one for Best Original Song), the soundtrack has dominated the Billboard charts, and it has been immortalized in countless TikTok videos, pieces of fan art, and highly sharable memes. In a wide-ranging interview, Miranda talks about the differences between working on “Moana” and “Encanto,” what he thinks about Disney CEO Bob Chapek calling “Encanto” the company’s newest animated franchise, and sheds some light on what he’s doing for the upcoming live-action “Little Mermaid” adaptation.“Encanto” directors Byron Howard and Jared Bush told me it was your idea to set the movie in Latin America. Confirm or deny?Lin-Manuel Miranda: I guess so.
Charlie Cox still can’t believe he was cast in Spider-Man: No Way Home!
The 2022 Oscar nominations are in.
Jazz Tangcay Artisans EditorLin-Manuel Miranda is one step closer to achieving EGOT status after earning an Oscar nomination in the best original song category for “Encanto’s” “Dos Oruguitas.” Miranda already has Emmy, Tony and Grammy awards.Should he succeed in winning the Oscar, he would join the elite group of artists who have achieved the status, including John Legend, Marvin Hamlisch and Robert Lopez. Composer Alan Menken was the most recent artist to achieve EGOT status in 2020, when he won an Emmy for outstanding original song in a children’s, young adult or animated program for “Waiting in the Wings” from Disney’s “Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure.”Miranda also has the rare distinction of winning a Pulitzer Prize for “Hamilton.” There are currently only two other people in the world who hold that honor, Hamlisch and Richard Rodgers.
Despite the presence of a troika of web slingers past and present and a bonanza box office, Spider-Man: No Way Home was (basically) nowhere to be found amidst today’s Oscar nominations unveiling.

Jazz Tangcay Artisans EditorIn “Tick, Tick, …Boom!” the song “Therapy” is performed by Jonathan Larson, played by Andrew Garfield and Karessa played by Vanessa Hudgens. The number intercuts mid-argument between Larson and girlfriend Susan (Alexandra Shipp), as they fight over Jonathan’s reluctance to understand that he has been shutting Susan out of his life as his musical’s workshop gets closer.Director Lin-Manuel Miranda says the song, a Fosse-style inspired moment, is a charming number that pokes fun at counselor therapy speak, and the best way to tell your partner you’re ticked off at them.

It IS, but it’s much more. The box-office success proves that the film is hitting a nerve with audiences: They needed this film.
