Lewis Capaldi has revealed he has been diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome.The 25 year old singer, who recently shared a peak inside his childhood home where he lives with his parents, explained that when doctors gave him the news he couldn't help feel as though it made "so much sense".Tourette's Syndrome is a condition that causes a person to make involuntary sounds and movements, called tics. In Lewis' case, his shoulder twitches from time to time.
Speaking to The Sun, the star said: "I have been diagnosed with Tourette’s," before admitting he wanted to speak out about it to prevent his fans from thinking he was taking drugs. “My shoulder twitches when I am excited, happy, nervous or stressed.
It is something I am living with," he continued, insisting that it's "not as bad as it looks". While he shared that he hasn't learned a great deal about the condition as it's so "new" to him, he has taken measures to help prevent the twitching.
Lewis said: "I got Botox in my shoulder to stop it moving but I'm learning new ways to cope all the time. Some days it’s more painful than others, sometimes it’s quite uncomfortable but I guess that’s it." The Someone You Loved hitmaker, who was repeatedly muted on TV while he gave a sweary Brits speech last year, continued: "When they told me, ‘We think you’ve got Tourette’s’, I was like, ‘Do you know what, that makes so much sense’.
“When I look back at my interviews from 2018 I can see that I’m doing it.” He went on to explain that he initially went to see the doctor after fearing he had some kind of "horrible degenerative disease," and was relieved when he was told it was Tourette's.
