Fingers Crossed by Lauren Spencer-Smith rockets to Number 1 on the Official Irish Singles Chart.
The 18-year-old Canadian singer and songwriter’s breakout hit enters Ireland’s Top 50 for the first time after receiving a mid-week release last week (January 5) – and tops the chart in the process. The song’s success has been compared to Olivia Rodrigo’s Drivers License, which flew straight to the top of the charts internationally this time last year.
Fingers Crossed’s success means last week’s Number 1, abcdefu by Gayle, is pushed to Number 2, with just 300 chart sales between the Top 2.
Meanwhile, following the release of his new album Dawn FM, The Weeknd scores three tracks in this week’s Top 20; Sacrifice which flies straight in at Number 5, Take My Breath which re-enters the chart at Number 11, and Gasoline at Number 16.
Outside of the Top 10, Surface Pressure by Jessica Darrow – from Disney’s Encanto – climbs four to Number 12, and Dublin collective Belters Only leap 19 places to 13 with Make Me Feel Good ft. Jazzy.
Singer-songwriter David Kushner debuts at Number 19 with Miserable Man, which was released in full on January 7 after going viral on TikTok.
Further down, The Family Madrigal by Stephanie Beatriz & Olga Merediz, also from Disney’s Encanto, rises seven to a peak of 41, finishing just ahead of Australian producer Luude with Down Under ft. Colin Hay, a remix of the 1981 Men At Work single of the same name.
Finally, UK rapper Central Cee is back with Retail Therapy, which lands straight in at Number 43, his sixth Top 50 hit in Ireland.
