Laura Whitmore in shock career change as she prepares for West End acting debut

Laura Whitmore has surprised fans by announcing a brand new role in a West End show.The Love Island presenter, 37, may be best known for her presenting work, but she's now taking the leap to the stage in 2:22 A Ghost Story in London's West End, playing a character called Jenny. Confirming the news on social media, Laura shared an image of herself on the show's poster, where she can be seen staring intently at the audience, wearing a loose black shirt and wearing her blonde hair slicked back.
In the caption, Laura wrote: "News!!! I’m joining the cast of 2:22 A Ghost Story from September 6th! Come see me on stage making my West End debut in this critically-acclaimed psychological thriller. For a limited run only, Book now!" A Ghost Story focuses on new mother Jenny and her baby as they are haunted by what seems to be a spectre at 2:22am each night in their newly renovated east London home.
Laura will star alongside Busted star Matt Willis, as well as Tasmin Carroll and Felix Scott in a thriller that sees two couples trying to make sense of the strange goings on in the house. Leaving their congratulations for Laura's new role on her post, Denise Van Outen wrote: "How exciting! Congratulations." Clara Amfo added: "Fab!", while Oti Mabuse wrote: "Let’s go Laura, so proud honey".
It's not the first big career move from Laura recently after it was announced she would be leaving her role as host of Radio 5 Live on Sunday morning after four years on the show. Last month, it was announced that the Irish presenter would be leaving her self-titled weekend show to pursue new projects.
