KCON Hits 10 Year Anniversary With Bigger Ambitions

Modest Mouse have announced a North American tour celebrating two and a half decades since they released their breakthrough second album, 1997’s ‘The Lonesome Crowded West’.Kicking off in November, the band will tour as a four-piece on the road, with founding members Isaac Brock and Jeremiah Green joined by Russell Higbee and Simon O’Connor – who joined the band in 2012 and 2021 respectively.The 20-date tour will begin at the Wilma Theater in Missoula on November 18 and will continue along to Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Austin, Dallas, Chicago, Washington, Philadelphia, Boston and more before wrapping up on December 17 at Terminal 5 in New York. WAKEONE has announced that TO1 member Chan will be absent from the upcoming New York stop of the KCON US Tour 2022 amid health concerns.The South Korean label took to the K-pop boyband’s official Twitter page yesterday earlier today at New York local time (September 1) to announce that member Chan will not join the rest of his bandmates in the group’s performances at the upcoming New York stop of the KCON US Tour.“Chan wasn’t feeling well during a rehearsal for the KCON 2022 US Tour New York, and he is currently taking a rest,” read the company’s English statement. “Although the artist has a strong will to participate in the performance, we have decided [for] Chan not to attend the New York performance to prioritise the artist’s health and condition.”“We apologise to the fans for causing concern with the sudden news, and we promise to do our best for Chan’s recovery,” WAKEONE concluded.The New York iteration of the ongoing KCON US Tour, which is scheduled for tonight at local time, is the final stop of the tour, after a slew of performances across the US in the past month, in cities such as San Francisco, Houston, Atlanta and more.Aside from TO1, other acts who are part of the KCON tour include girl groups STAYC and LIGHTSUM, as well as boyband CRAVITY.

Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter Neon has landed U.S. distribution rights to South Korean director Park Chan-wook’s film “Oldboy” and plans to bring the dark revenge thriller back to theaters in honor of its 20th anniversary. It will mark the first time Park’s film plays on the big screen since its initial release on Nov. 21, 2003. Neon has not specified the exact date that “Oldboy” will return to the big screen. “Oldboy,” which Oark co-wrote with Hwang Jo-yun and Lim Joon-hyung, won the Grand Prix at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival, led by jury president Quentin Tarantino. The acclaimed film stars Choi Min-sik as Oh Dae-Su, a man who was kidnapped and imprisoned for 15 years. After he’s released, he has five days to find his captor. Yoo Ji-tae and Kang Hye-jung co-star in the film.

JO1 have pulled out of this weekend’s KCON LA due to COVID-19.Five of the J-pop group’s 11 members have tested positive for the coronavirus, the group’s agency Lapone Entertainment revealed in a statement on its website on August 15. As a result JO1 will not appear at KCON LA, the K-pop festival and convention marking its 10th anniversary in Los Angeles this weekend.The first member of JO1 to test positive for COVID-19 was Sato Keigo, who reported symptoms last Friday.
