Katie Price has shared her anger that her friend Sarah Harding’s name was brought up as part of Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney’s libel case. The former glamour model, 43, had been close friends with the late Girls Aloud star, who died from breast cancer in September 2021 at the age of 39, with the singer even being a bridesmaid at her 2005 wedding to Peter Andre. Harding was brought up in court after it was claimed Vardy was caught taking photos of the contents of her handbag at the National Television Awards in 2018.
In a written statement, Rooney claimed to be ‘aware’ that Vardy had ‘provided various pieces of “behind the scenes” footage for The Sun’. Rooney added: ‘She also got in a spat with former Girls Aloud group member Sarah Harding during the 2018 event because Sarah apparently caught Becky taking photographs of the contents of Sarah’s handbag when Sarah had dropped it on the floor. Their dispute subsequently appeared in The Sun.
’In an article published by The Mirror at the time, it is claimed Harding accused Vardy of taking ‘sneaky pictures’ of her, sparking a ‘heated row’ and causing a ‘huge scene’. Sources claimed that the singer had dropped her bag at the afterparty of the awards, and saw a camera flash as she proceeded to pick up her belongings from the floor, and spotted Vardy standing nearby with her phone in her hand. The source added that Vardy had insisted that she hadn’t taken any photos, offering to show Harding her phone before demanding an apology.
