I knew from the start that she was going to generate a lot of hate.” But perhaps more alarming were messages from followers who actually agreed with her character’s views, Katie explained. She continued: “I knew from the start what Becky was going to be like and where the storyline was headed.
“I wanted to do it because it highlights conspiracy theories, fake news and racism. "These are things that have been going on around us over the past couple of years and they need to be tackled properly." The actress went on to say that she's going to wear the hate messages and death threats "like a badge of honour".
