The Queen has returned to Windsor ahead of her four day Platinum Jubilee celebrations.The 96 year old monarch was seen returning to Windsor Castle in a green Range Rover as she prepares to celebrate 70 years on the throne, with one of her faithful corgis in the back seat.The Queen has spent the last few days at her Scottish home Balmoral, said to be one of her favourite places to visit, as staff busy themselves with preparations for the historic celebration.The four day Jubilee celebrations will begin on Thursday with a special Trooping of the Colour parade.The Epsom Derby will take place on Saturday 4 June, said to be a favourite of the Queens, although Her Majesty is not expected to attend in person as she celebrates Meghan and Harry's daughter Lilibet's first birthday. Kate Middleton made a sweet revelation about her youngest son Louis while on an official engagement in Glasgow earlier this week. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the home of local parent Joanne Wales as part of their two day trip to Scotland, where 40 year old Kate gave a rare insight into life in the Cambridge household.
During the visit to see Joanne, who is a tenant of the housing, care and property management organisation the Wheatley Group, the mum-of-four’s son Jason eagerly showed the royal couple his collection of Spider Man and Hulk toys. As part of the intimate occasion, Joanne, who has been a single parent following the death of her partner two years ago, explained that seeing the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had been a pleasant surprise. “They were absolutely lovely and straight away they were talking to Jason about superheroes,” she said.
“It was not as weird as I had thought it would be because they just put you at ease, they are so nice and welcoming, they just wanted to make sure that I was doing okay and that I look after myself because sometimes mums tend to put themselves on the backpedal.” Elsewhere Kate and 39 year old William also met Lynette Wilson who shared that she’d benefitted from the Wheatley Foundation’s EatWell emergency food parcel service. As she spoke to the Cambridges, Lynette’s daughter drew a picture of the Prince, to which Kate commented that her drawing was “very good”.
