Princess Catherine (aka Kate Middleton) and Prince William are said to be involved in a “debate” regarding the role that their young son Prince George will play in King Charles‘ coronation.
The 9-year-old royal is second in line to the throne, and rumors have been swirling that he’ll be involved in his grandfather’s big day on May 6.
However, a royal expert said that there is “a bit of an argument” brewing about if and how Prince George will take center stage. They noted that the concerns are two-fold.

Royal expert Tom Quinn said sources are telling him Kate and William are worried that “it will be too much” for their son.
Beyond that, they also seem to be worried about how Prince George‘s involvement would be perceived by the public. Concerns stem from the response to situations that Princes William and Harry were in at teens, particularly their mother’s funeral procession.
Tom told Express that the new situation could be “almost an echo” of those moments in the past.
“A lot of people criticised that and said that it was a horrible thing to make two boys that young, and especially Harry, do,” he shared. “So I think people are remembering this and thinking, ‘Well hang on a minute, if George is some sort of a pageboy, or has a similar role at the Coronation, is that going back too far towards the traditional roles?’”
The debate is said to be ongoing with no clear decision yet.
A leaked rehearsal plan for the coronation led to questions about what role both Princes Harry and William‘s children will play, including if they will be involved in a procession.
