Kate Garraway says 'frightening turn for the worse' left husband fighting for life

Kate Garraway has given fans an update on her husband Derek Draper's latest health scare after she was forced to take time off work.
The Good Morning Britain host admitted he took an "unexpected and frightening turn for the worse" that left her with no choice but to put her work commitments on hold.
Kate says her dear husband is now finally "back on the right side of it" and so she is returning to work on GMB and Smooth Radio from tomorrow (Monday) after three weeks off, reports the Mirror.
Sharing an update with fans, she wrote: "Thank you so so much for all your messages of support - they really do mean the world to me & the whole family.
"I have taken some time off @gmb, @smoothradio & @garrawaysgoodatuff in the last 3 weeks as Derek’s health took an unexpected & frightening turn for the worse that landed him back in intensive care & fighting for his life - again ."
"Thanks to the amazing nhs teams & his own extraordinary life force & spirit Derek -please god - is back on the right side of it now and I'm so looking forward to seeing you all back on @gmb from 6 a.m tomorrow & @smoothradio - hopefully celebrating @lionesses #worldcup win! The presenter's husband, who has been suffering long-term effects after contracting coronavirus in 2020, had been readmitted to hospital.
Kate had stepped down from the ITV daytime show for three weeks to stay by Derek's side as she cared for him and their family.
