Kate Garraway has revealed she's broken her toe after suffering an incident while walking through intensive care. The 55 year old has been in and out of hospital for her husband Derek Draper, also 55, as he's been suffering complications from a Covid-19 infection he contracted back in 2020. Appearing on Good Morning Britain on Thursday 1 September, Kate was joined by Ben Shephard, 47, who couldn't help but notice she was wearing a pair of trainers instead of her usual "posh shoes".
"Look at my little trainers," Kate said as the camera zoomed in on her white shoes as Ben immediately took the opportunity to joke: "Cute as they are... Are you off to Zumba with Richard?" Laughing at Ben's teasing, she then explained her choice of footwear as the host said: "I've got a broken toe.
I've got a sore toe, I can't get in my posh shoes." She continued: "And also, I've forgotten you for what you are like because most of the summer I've been able to hide my trainers under the desk." "Everyone's been really respectful?" Ben quizzed, which Kate confirmed. He then said: "Well that's gotta change." "Lovely to have you back," Kate then said before Ben asked her how she managed to break her toe.
Kate, who was recently praised by Robert Rinder amid Derek's health concerns, explained: "I was carrying some kit through intensive care and I whacked my foot on one of those tables. You know those tables where the legs come out beyond it?" "I was in absolute agony and I really wanted to cry," Kate went on.
