Just Stop Oil activists have splattered orange paint over Barclays headquarters in Aberdeen in protest over the corporation's investment in the fossil fuel industry.
Three campaigners were seen throwing the paint over the windows of the Silver Fin building on Union Street at 12pm on Monday. They then stood with a 'Just Stop Oil' banner in front of the offices.
Multiple officers have been photographed at the scene speaking with the activists. Police have confirmed that three people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
The action comes after Extinction Rebellion Scotland campaigners broke the windows at Barclays new offices in Glasgow. Two activists donned safety gloves and goggles to destroy the glass panes at the office block on Clyde Place Quay at around 8am on Monday, with further disruption expected this afternoon.
Its all part of a day of national action across the UK, led by Extinction Rebellion aimed at Barclays with over 100 of the banks’ offices and branches targeted with paint, posters, fake oil and crime scene tape .
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of paint thrown at a building on Union Street in Aberdeen shortly after 12.05pm on Monday, 14 November.
“Officers from Aberdeen city centre attended and three people, aged 24, 23 and 22 have been arrested in connection with the incident.
“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any further information can call 101, quoting reference 1259 of 14 November.”
