Will the be a ‘Jury Duty’ season two?

Jury Duty, the new courtroom reality series, recently aired its season one finale Amazon Prime Video – but will there be a second season?Created by The Office‘s Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, the series chronicles the inner workings of an American jury trial through the eyes of juror Ronald Gladden, who doesn’t realise that everyone except him is an actor.Throughout the course of the show, Ronald (who believes he is taking part in an educational documentary about the legal system) puts up with the eccentric behaviour of his fellow jurors, including Sonic The Hedgehog star James Marsden, who plays a comical version of himself. The final episode of season one – which dropped on Amazon Prime Video on April 27 – saw the producers award Ronald $100,000 (£79,560) for proving himself to be a “hero” and genuinely nice guy.A second season has not yet been confirmed, but executive producer Nicholas Hatton has already expressed an interest in continuing the series. He recently told Deadline: “We could do more but it won’t be the exact same format.“Tweaks will need to happen because the process of finding these wonderful real people involves a little bit of subterfuge and hyping up tracks and sort of pretending you’re something that you’re not. So you have to use a slightly different process every time and we have to keep that very, very secret.”He added: “There are many more worlds of jury duty and many more iterations of it and I think it can go in any number of incredible directions.

‘White House Plumbers’ TV Review: Despite A Funny Woody Harrelson & Justin Theroux, HBO’s Series Wastes A Grand Opportunity

It’s not hard to picture the team behind HBO’s “White House Plumbers” finishing work on an episode of “Veep” and picturing that stellar comedy’s tone being applied to the idiots behind the Watergate break-in. (The director of all five episodes here is David Mandel, showrunner on that massive critical darling.) And as the country once again goes through considerations of impeachment and general malfeasance in the highest offices of the United States, the timing seems just right for a scathing look at one of the key points in our continuing disillusionment with the government.

'Jury Duty' Star Ronald Gladden Reveals When He Almost Figured Out the Show was Fake (Exclusive)

But the conceit here is that the documentary-style show is fake, and the only person who didn't know it at the time was Ronald Gladden, an unsuspecting participant who thought they were reviewing a real case during the duration of filming. While Gladden eventually learned the truth by the end, the show has become a hit thanks to its quirky humor and the breakout star's even-keeled, good-natured demeanor.

‘Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story of the Once and Future Heavyweight Champion of the World’ Review: It’s Conventional but Delivers

Owen Gleiberman Chief Film Critic Biopics about star athletes or artists tend to have the same broad shape: the rise to achievement and fame, the fall from triumph (often fueled by some combination of addiction and ego), the restoration to a harder-won glory. A great biopic, like “Get On Up” or “I, Tonya,” will tease a profound portrait of the subject out of that form; a middling one will oversimplify the subject just to hit the right beats. But then there’s a film like “Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story of the Once and Future Heavyweight Champion of the World.” That’s not a movie title — it’s the title of a parable. And it’s well chosen, since “Big George Foreman” is about a life that feels so outlandishly ready-made for the ups and downs, the lessons and inspirations, of the superstar biopic genre that you don’t even have to mess with it. The real George Foreman has, in effect, already scripted it for you.
