It hasn't exactly been a barnstorming start to the summer transfer window for Manchester United.
While Manchester City have already pulled off the deal of the window in signing Erling Haaland, Aston Villa have made four deals, Liverpool have brought in a hot prospect and Spurs have recruited an experienced and quality head, United are yet to make a single move. Two weeks have passed since their worst ever season came to a thankful end and the chatter is growing worryingly quiet on every front.
It's hardly surprising that United haven't been ready to splash the cash from the word go when there has been so much shifting and changing in key roles. Erik ten Hag has only just arrived, Ralf Rangnick left completely, Andy O'Boyle has been appointed as deputy football director and there have been plenty of behind-the-scenes departures.

Considering the window isn't actually officially open yet it's not time for panic stations just yet but things will soon have to start moving if United are to recruit well in the several positions that are in need of strengthening. Otherwise, Ten Hag is going to find his first season even more difficult than it's already certain to be.
With six departures having been confirmed last week and more - Dean Henderson, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Eric Bailly, Anthony Martial - possibly on the table, United have a minor exodos on their hands and already needed to improve their squad before that. A clearout is by no means a bad thing, but losing so many players in one go will need to be offset by a good number of quality arrivals.
