Julianne Moore Named Venice Film Festival Jury President

Leo Barraclough International Features EditorThe Locarno Film Festival’s artistic director, Giona A. Nazzaro, has rejected calls to ban Leon Prudovsky’s “My Neighbor, Adolf,” which world premieres Aug. 4 in Locarno’s Piazza Grande, after a controversy was sparked regarding its funding.

Jesse Eisenberg is set to be honored at this year’s Sarajevo Film Festival with an Honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award. He’ll be presented with the award ahead of a special screening of Eisenberg’s directorial debut When You Finish Saving The World on August 15.

The 79th Venice International Film Festival has presented the movies that will compete for this year’s Golden Lion. Following Cannes’ impressive 2022 line-up was always going to be a tough task, but the Venice Film Festival has pulled out all the stops and unveiled a programme that fuses red-carpet glitz with politically-charged fare.

The 79th edition of the Venice Film Festival boasts one of its strongest lineups in years. There are new films from Luca Guadagnino, Noah Baumbach, Alejandro G.

"From our cast - led by the formidable Florence Pugh and Harry Styles - to the design of this world and the kinetic cinematography, the film was crafted for viewing in the collective setting of the theatrical experience.

As in pre-pandemic times, there will be a few days of overlap between the Canadian and Italian festivals.Although Venice struggled with ticketing last year due to theaters remaining at 50% capacity, Barbera informed Italian media that this year’s festival is expected to shed COVID measures altogether, meaning there should be ample space for delegates.

Refresh for latest…: The Venice Film Festival will unveil its lineup for the 79th edition this morning at 11 a.m. local time (2 a.m. PT/5 a.m. ET). The press conference is being held at the Library of the Biennale Historical Archive of Contemporary Arts in Venice with speakers including Roberto Cicutto, President of La Biennale di Venezia, and Alberto Barbera, Artistic Director of the Cinema Department who oversees the Lido fest.

“White Noise,” the latest feature film from “Marriage Story” Oscar nominee Noah Baumbach, is scheduled to open this year’s Venice Film Festival. Starring Baumbach’s oft-collaborators Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig, it’s the first time a Netflix feature is opening the fest.

The Toronto International Film Festival has been slowly revealing some of its world premiere titles over the past few weeks and now its Venetian festival cousin has gotten into the mix. Today, Noah Baumbach’s “White Noise” was revealed as the opening night film for the 2022 Venice Film Festival.
