One of Harvey Weinstein’s sexual assault accusers, Ashley Judd, is speaking out on her role in the film "She Said." "She Said," which debuts Nov. 18, highlights the work of journalists who exposed Weinstein in 2017.  Weinstein, 70, is serving a 23-year prison sentence following a conviction in New York. Weinstein, who is on trial in Los Angeles, was granted permission to take his appeal of his 2020 sex crime conviction to the New York State Court of Appeals.

Lawyers for children who were sexually assaulted by a high school wrestling coach have settled a lawsuit with the Los Angeles Unified School District for $52 million, they announced Wednesday. Attorneys for more than a dozen children and their families announced that the money has been paid and the suit dismissed. The negligence and sexual battery suit — actually a consolidation of several suits — was filed against the nation's second-largest school district over sexual assaults committed by Terry Gillard, who in 2020 was sentenced to 71 years in state prison after being convicted of molesting nine boys and girls.

Los Angeles police released chilling surveillance video showing a man kidnapping a 14-year-old at a park in El Sereno before allegedly forcing the victim into a bathroom and sexually assaulting the teen.  Edward William Banks, 27, was arrested on Tuesday and is currently held on $1 million bail on the charge of aggravated kidnapping to commit rape.  The case will be presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said. Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic It wasn’t quite a proper Spinal Tap reunion, but there was some implicit history happening Tuesday night at Largo in Los Angeles as Michael McKean and Christopher Guest joined Loudon Wainwright III, the headliner for the latest in a series of Judd Apatow-hosted “Juddapalooza” benefit concerts at Largo. Besides going back together about five and a half decades as friends on the musical-comedy scene, Wainwright, as hardcore fans will know, was seen as a member of Spinal Tap in a cameo in the very first filmed comedy sketch featuring the faux group in the late ’70s. Tuesday’s Largo show featured a healthy intermingling of Wainwright performing songs from his new album, “Lifetime Achievement,” and Guest and McKean bringing back some of the very earliest Spinal Tap “hits,” along with some folk-scene collaborations. Also on tap as unadvertised guests: Beck, who sang a few of his own songs and Neil Young’s “Old Man” along with assisting others in the hootenanny, and top producer Greg Kurstin, who proved game for completely unrehearsed piano contributions and even solos over the course of the two hours-plus.

Jada Pinkett Smith is releasing a “no holds barred” memoir, which will delve into her upbringing, her marriage and her experience of depression. The publisher Dey Street, an imprint of HarperCollins, announced the news on Thursday 6 October. It stated that, in the book, Pinkett Smith will reflect on “lessons learned in the course of a difficult but riveting journey – a rollercoaster ride from the depths of suicidal depression to the heights of personal rediscovery and the celebration of authentic feminine power”.

Michele Amabile Angermiller Tony Danza will be crooning the classics with his live show, “Tony Danza: Standards & Stories,” at the Catalina Jazz Club in Los Angeles next month. The run, set for Nov. 1 to Nov. 5, marks the first of many upcoming performances to celebrate the venue’s 36th anniversary.  The show is described as “combining timeless music with wit, charm, storytelling, and a dash of soft shoe and ukulele performances.”  Danza and his four-piece band perform his favorite standards from the Great American Songbook while interweaving stories about his life and personal connection to the music. Danza’s career spans decades, with starring roles on “Taxi” and “Who’s the Boss?” He has also had major roles in such hit films such as “Angels in the Outfield,” “She’s Out of Control,” “Hollywood Knights” and “Don Jon.”

Joan Jett made an early appearance at today’s (September 27) Taylor Hawkins tribute concert in Los Angeles, joining the surviving members of Foo Fighters – with Blink-182’s Travis Barker sitting in for Hawkins on drums – to perform two of her biggest hits from the ‘80s.The one-off supergroup delivered renditions of ‘Cherry Bomb’ (from 1984’s ‘Glorious Results of a Misspent Youth’) and ‘Bad Reputation’ (from Jett’s self-titled 1980 album, reissued a year later as ‘Bad Reputation’). The latter was a particularly special inclusion, given that Jett and the Foos have teamed up several times throughout the years to perform it together.One notable team-up, in 2011, saw Jett join the Foos to perform ‘Bad Reputation’ on Late Night With David Letterman.
