Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large BET is bringing the “Soul Train Awards” back to Las Vegas.  The channel is set to announce on Thursday that the annual event’s 2022 edition will tape on Sunday, November 13, in Sin City. The awards show aims to recognize the year’s top soul, R&B and hip hop. “Soul Train Awards” nominees, selected by a voting academy of music industry insiders, performers, and presenters, will be announced at a later date. BET also said it will adhere to local COVID-19 protocols in cooperation with Las Vegas county officials. Last year’s “Soul Train Awards”were held in New York, at Harlem’s Apollo Theatre, co-hosted by Tisha Campbell and Tichina Arnold returned as co-hosts. Ashantiwas given the “Lady of Soul” award, Maxwell was presented with the “Legend” award and Ciara and Russell WilsonandMarley Diasreceived the “Souls of Justice” award.

The suspect accused of fatally stabbing two people on the Las Vegas strip and injuring six others appears to have been caught on camera by a news outlet in Los Angeles two days before the attack.  "He was asking for help," ​Telemundo 52 cameraman Jorge López said, according to a news article from the outlet. "He kept telling me: 'I just want a chance, I just want to start from scratch.'" A Nevada man delighted fast food patrons by bringing a rescue camel to an In-N-Out restaurant in Las Vegas last week. Fergie, a dromedary camel, stood calmly as she was surrounded by cars in the restaurant's drive-thru on October 4.  Video shows the camel slowly moving through the drive-thru at the West Coast fast food chain while onlookers laughed and admired the animal from afar. After securing her meal, the camel walked with her handler to the parking lot area where she was surrounded by people who watched her enjoy her food.  Rescue camel Fergie was filmed standing patiently in an In-N-Out drive-thru before getting her French fries.

A group of pro-life students is suing their Las Vegas high school and the surrounding school district, alleging discrimination against their campus club. One of the plaintiffs, recent ECTA graduate Felipe Avila, who founded the Students for Life chapter at East Career and Technical Academy (ECTA) in 2019, told local news he sensed "animosity" from administrators who "did not like" his group's message.

A Las Vegas man accused of falsely claiming to be a Harvard Business School graduate and combat veteran to defraud dozens of investors out of millions of dollars was arrested in San Diego on Tuesday evening, the FBI announced.  Justin Costello, 42, was indicted on 25 counts of wire fraud and securities fraud last week for the years-long scheme, in which he allegedly orchestrated a pump-and-dump over social media and used his investors' money to pay for his own wedding.  "Mr. Costello allegedly told many tall tales to convince victims to invest millions of dollars – money he then used for his own benefit," Nick Brown, U.S.

The news of the residency comes after Levine and Maroon 5 were confirmed to still perform at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Oct. 1.The band is currently on tour, and Levine has no plans to let the scandal stop him from performing.
