new Austin, Texas comedy club, by welcoming comedians like Roseanne Barr and Dave Chappelle. During an interview with The Free Press, Rogan said his Austin-based club, Comedy Mothership, features comedians who aren’t afraid of exploring subjects that some “do not think should be funny.” “And if we can be funny with some s—t that you do not think should be funny, then that’s wonderful, then let’s explore this. Let’s find out, what is that? Like, what’s going on there? What’s up with that subject that everybody’s scared of it? Are we in a f—king cult? You know, when you start believing things that you inherently know are not true but you say them and repeat them because the cult wants you to do it — this is something you can exploit in stand-up comedy, and that’s what stand-up comedy is all about.
It’s all about that,” Rogan said. He said the club was “set up for comedians” to develop their material as the establishment requires guests to check their cell phones at the door. “When people do risky subjects, it’s my favorite shit,” he told the outlet, explaining what he believes is “third rail stand-up.”“We don’t do it as an alternative to comedy. We do it because that is comedy,” he continued. Rogan’s Comedy Mothership opened on March 7 and tickets to the opening shows sold out in minutes.

Selome Hailu CBS has canceled both the police procedural “East New York” and “True Lies” after just one season. According to sources, the decision to cancel the series came down to CBS haggling with the series’ studio Warner Bros. It has previously been reported that CBS has renewed other shows on its lineup, like the comedy “Bob Hearts Abishola,” after asking the cast to take pay cuts or by shifting series regulars to recurring status. The drama series starred Amanda Warren as deputy inspector Regina Haywood, the newly promoted boss of the 74th Precinct in East New York, a working-class neighborhood on the edge of Brooklyn in the midst of social upheaval and the early seeds of gentrification. With family ties to the area, Haywood is determined to deploy creative methods to protect her beloved community with the help of her officers and detectives. Bupkis can be loosely translated into English as “nothing” — which is the comedic point of Pete Davidson’s eponymous, semi-autobiographical series premiering May 4 on Peacock.Think of “Bupkis” as a “Seinfeld”-type “show about nothing” … but writ large.“I think our goal was to capture the relentless and absurd reality that is Pete’s world,” said showrunner Judah Miller, who co-created and co-wrote “Bupkis” with Davidson and Dave Sirus. (Stacy Keach delivers the opening, jokey “legal announcement” in his unmistakable baritone.)“When we were coming up with ideas, there were no fictitious concepts or situations that were going to rival the opportunities for comedy and satire that Pete’s actual life provides,” Miller said.
