The movie stars Mescal and newcomer Frankie Corio.“Aftersun” is produced by Adele Romanski, Barry Jenkins and Mark Ceryak for Pastel and Amy Jackson for Unified Theory.

Scottish writer-director Charlotte Wells lights up Cannes Critics’ Week with Aftersun, the absorbing story of an 11-year-old going on holiday with her father. Paul Mescal (Normal People, The Lost Daughter) stars alongside Francesca Corio in a terrific two-hander with engaging supporting performances. Shot on location in Turkey, the film is partly a comedy-drama about a package holiday, but also a meditation on memories of a father with mental health problems.

Amy Adams is signing on for a big new project.

Angelique Jackson Searchlight Pictures has acquired worldwide rights to Annapurna’s “Nightbitch,” with six-time Oscar-nominee Amy Adams set to star. Marielle Heller wrote and will direct the film adaptation of Rachel Yoder’s acclaimed debut novel.The movie, described as a “darkly comic neo-horror,” is currently in pre-production, with a scheduled production start this September in Los Angeles.

dates back to 2020 when Bond Group and Annapurna acquired the rights to the film and developed the screenplay with Heller. Heller and Adams will also produce the film along with Megan Ellison, Anne Carey, Stacy O’Neil, Christina Oh, Adam Paulsen and Sue Naegle.
