Judi Dench, 87, admits ‘frightful fall’ left her ‘lying on the ground’ in health update
Judi Dench has spent the past 65 years lighting up the stage - and she's made it clear that she has no intention of losing her distinctive sparkle. The actress, who says the word "retirement" is forbidden in her home, also refused to let her fall suppress her spirit - even if it sent her tumbling to the ground.Judi had enjoyed performing energetic dance routines with the encouragement of her TikTok whiz grandson when he moved into her Surrey mansion during the lockdown. However when she took a terrifying fall recently, she didn't have him there to help her back up, as she was in the house alone."I tripped over the carpet and there was nobody in the house, and I was lying on the ground unable to get up for half an hour," she recalled to Saga Magazine of her "frightful" experience.Unfortunately, her pet parrot also wasn't much help in a crisis."[She] kept saying: 'What are you doing? What are you doing?'" Judi revealed."This is when you need a very convenient parrot who would phone somebody but she didn't."After half an hour I just got up."Judi, who admits she has no panic buttons installed in the house in spite of her advancing age, reflected: "You want to be independent and it's very, very difficult."Addressing her thoughts on ageing, she declared: "I don't recommend it!"Determined to live every day as if it were her last, she has defiantly had the words 'carpe diem' tattooed across her wrist. The actress made the bold move as part of a celebration for her 81st birthday six years earlier."It didn't hurt," she insisted."Well, it depends on what your level of pain is - but it didn't hurt me!"Meanwhile, Judi also refuses to be viewed as a national treasure, contemptuously declaring of the tag: "It's stuffy! ‘I get the anger’ Ricky Gervais speaks out on alleged Downing Street lockdown party
lockdown parties”.The Government came under fire after footage of Boris Johnson‘s former spokesperson Allegra Stratton showed her referring to a “fictional party” as a “business meeting with cheese and wine”.It now faces fresh backlash after a recently leaked email from the Prime Minister’s principal private secretary showed that Downing Street officials held a garden gathering during lockdown.Ricky weighed in on the controversy as he spoke to ITV News ahead of the release of the latest season of After Life on Netflix. The comedian said he understood how those who abided by the restrictions throughout the pandemic felt after the reports came out.He said on Tuesday: “I get it, I get the anger. It’s palpable.“Why wouldn’t they be angry?“Myself and everyone kept to the rules.“I think I’ve been naive all my life, it’s only now that I think… why do we trust them?“Of course we shouldn’t trust the people in charge, that’s how they are in charge.“They shouldn’t be trusted,” the actor concluded. Now Ricky is preparing for the launch of season 3 of After Life on Friday, but filming the last six episodes of the show has been filled with challenges. The production process was put on hold during the coronavirus pandemic and Ricky even admitted he was anxious over whether or not the new season would go ahead. The third season was initially announced in May 2020 after season two was released in April 2020.Nearly a year later, filming finally kicked off and wrapped in June 2021.Ricky himself confessed the uncertainty of the pandemic caused him “anxiety”.He told Deadline on Friday: “It was a year of anxiety, thinking whether it would it go ahead.”“But we didn’t drop a minute due to Covid,” Ricky continued.

'Sorry to get emotional' Naga Munchetty fights back tears over heartbreaking on-air moment
BBC Radio 5 Live presenter Naga Munchetty accepted calls today from listeners who wanted to share their views on Boris Johnson and the ongoing investigation into a party that took place at Number 10 Downing Street. The caller in question told Naga that she had broken the rules during lockdown to see her father, who was isolating alone while his health declined, and shared her “controversial” opinion on Mr. Johnson in light of this fact. Naga, 46, kept calm as her caller, Cath, became choked up as she talked about her father, who died from COVID-19 at the end of 2020. Speaking about her father was clearly difficult for Cath, and at one point another listener texted in to tell her that she had “such grace”, whilst claiming that Boris was clearly lacking in that department. All the while, Naga continued to interview Cath in a considered and measured manner, until the end of the interview, where she couldn’t help but get choked up. Naga became emotional when she asked Cath for her father’s name. She asked: “You have amazing grace, Cath, do you want to tell me your father’s name? Shall we remember him?”Cath confirmed that her father’s name was Roger, causing Naga to take a brief pause. Her voice breaking, Naga continued: “Cath, I’m sorry… I know… Sorry I didn’t mean to get emotional. “I’m so sorry for the pain, and thank you.
