A drunken and jealous man rammed six people with his van outside a pub as he used the vehicle as a weapon in an act of revenge.
Bradley Davies’s victims included his girlfriend and her father who had been attending a children’s party on November 14 last year.
Davies, 26, had previously confessed to six charges of attempted wounding with intent and dangerous driving.
He had also pleaded guilty to resisting a police constable, racially aggravated criminal damage, criminal damage, a racially aggravated public disorder offence and causing harassment alarm and distress in relation to another incident.
At court last week Davies was placed behind bars for six years and 10 months and disqualified from driving for 89 months, according to Birmingham Live.
Birmingham Crown Court heard that the defendant had been in an 11 year relationship with his girlfriend and had been contacting her constantly over the course of a weekend.
Matters culminated when he then went to the Lickey Banker public house in Rubery at around 7pm on November 14 where she was with members of her family including her father. He had earlier made a threat to kill her and to “sort her father out” claiming he wanted to slit his throat.
In passing sentence, Judge Dean Kershaw said: “You are without doubt an extremely jealous man. That is clear from the messages you sent to her. It is clear that there was an intention you harboured to cause real violence.”
He went on: “You tried to attack her father. You poured a drink over him and you attempted to use the glass on him. You were ejected from the premises by others.
“You were incensed about what had happened. You, yourself had been hurt. You were humiliated. You got in your transit van and drove it back to the public
