Jason Statham Circling ‘Small Dark Look’ At Focus Features; Martin Zandvliet Stepping In To Direct

If you’re a fan of Peter Jackson and/or The Beatles, then Christmas has come early. Even though “The Beatles: Get Back” isn’t slated to hit theaters until the second half of 2021, Disney and Jackson have decided to give fans a sneak peek at the upcoming, highly-anticipated documentary.

Focus Features has picked up the worldwide rights to Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast ahead of a 2021 release. Written and directed by the Oscar nominee, Belfast tells the story of one boy’s childhood during the tumult of the late 1960s in Northern Ireland, where Branagh is from.

Focus Features has acquired the worldwide rights to the next film from Kenneth Branagh, “Belfast,” which he wrote and directed and stars Caitriona Balfe, Judi Dench, Jamie Dornan, Ciaran Hinds and newcomer Jude Hill.The film is described as a humorous, tender and a film that Branagh describes as his most personal film yet about a boy’s childhood during the tumult of the late 1960s.

Focus Features continues its steady rollout of movies into 2021 with the release of Robin Wright’s feature directorial debut drama Land on Feb. 12, 2021, just in time for Oscar qualifications which have a cutoff date of Feb. 28.

EXCLUSIVE: Paramount has brought on This Is Us staff writer Jon Dorsey to rewrite the screenplay for the film adaptation of the popular children’s book, Corduroy, by Don Freeman. Tim Story has long been attached to direct the film, which was previously set up on CBS Films. Walden Media is co-financing and co-producing the project.

The good news is that a follow-up film set in the same universe of “Eastern Promises” is coming, titled “Small Dark Look.” Unfortunately, the film isn’t going to see the return of Cronenberg or star Viggo Mortensen, and it won’t continue the story featured in the first film.
