Scots comedian Janey Godley has opened about her cancer battle and revealed how it has impacted her mental health.
At the end of last year, the 61-year-old was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
And in January, Janey underwent a hysterectomy but even after the surgery she was told she would need to undergo further treatment as her cancer had progressed to stage 3b.
This means there are cancer growths 2cm or smaller in size on the lining of the abdomen and there may also be cancer in the lymph nodes.
Janey is currently undergoing chemotherapy and has said it has really taken its toll on her mentally.
Updating her Twitter followers, Janey said: "Dealing with cancer has turned my mental health issues into a difficult unfathomable pretzel, the chemo & steroids have wreaked havoc with my brain & I am now dealing with this daily. It’s not a weakness to admit it can pull you down #MentalHealthMatters thanks for all support."
And many fans flocked to the comments to send Janey support.
One follower said: "I’d say it’s a strength to admit to mental health issues. Having been there with cancer and without, I can say that my experience has been that things get better. Much of the time it’ll be what I call a ‘grit your teeth day’ but it does change."
Another added: "Love you Mrs. you have been such a massive support to me with my mental health issues. I’m sorry you are riding this roller coaster. You are very loved."
While one said: "You're an incredibly strong woman; you'll make it through this challenge. Sending love."
