Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis has warned Brits to check if they're owed thousands because of a tax error.
The finance journalist says countless people could be owed money without even realising.
One reader contacted the MoneySavingExpert founder to explain how she claimed back £5,000 after being on the wrong tax code for four years.
Tax codes are used by your employer or pension provider to work out how much tax is taken from your pay or pension, reports the Mirror.

It is made up of numbers and letters to represent how much you can earn before you start being taxed - and everyone on the PAYE system should have been given one by HMRC.
The most common code for the current tax year is 1257L for people who have one job or pension - although not everyone will be on this.
If you find you are on the wrong tax code, it means you could be paying too much tax each month - which is why you could be owed money back.
In the latest MoneySavingExpert email, Martin warned: “Millions are wrong each year, and the rules say it's YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to check it's correct (not your employer's or HMRC's).”
There are several ways you can find your tax code - the simplest way to check is to look at your latest payslip, or on your P45 if you have recently quit your job.
You can also ask your HR department if they can tell you your tax code.
The Gov.uk website has a dedicated webpage where you can see your tax code as well - to check it online, you will need to register for a government gateway ID.
For those who are on the most comment 1257L tax code, this means you can earn £12,570 before being taxed in the 2021/22 tax year.
