Coronation Street has finally confirmed what brings Spider Nugent crawling back to the cobbles. It was announced back in April that Martin Hancock would be reprising the role of the character 19 years after his exit on the ITV soap.

Coronation Street favourite Sally Carman looked a far cry from her mechanic character Abi Franklin as she struck a pose on the red carpet at The British Soap Awards. Sally, who is currently at the centre of the drama in Weatherfield in her fight for custody of her baby boy Alfie, swapped Abi's overalls for a glitzy black jumpsuit for the awards in London.
The actress, who was nominated for the first gender neutral Best Leading Performer award to replace the Best Actress and Best Actor gongs, wowed in her bejeweled lacy outfit. She chose the same stunning jumpsuit as EastEnders star Danielle Harold, who plays Lola Pearce in the BBC One soap and the ladies both looked incredible.
Sally joined Coronation Street as drug addict Abi in 2017 and has become one of the long-running soap's most popular characters. After losing her son Seb to a vile hate crime attack last May, the character is embroiled in a heartbreaking storyline after losing custody of her son.

Alfie's dad Imran Habeeb framed Abi to appear that she was still on drugs so that he could keep Alfie with his new wife Toyah. But when he told Toyah the truth it appears she crashed their car to get her revenge.
Imran suffered a cardiac arrest after rescuing Toyah from the wreckage and he died on the scene. Alfie has since been taken into care while the finger of suspicion points at Toyah over his death.
